3rd Force “Vital Force” Smooth Jazz Music CD Review

Vital Force is the latest release from Smooth Jazz Superstar 3rd Force, and is another great one by this talented musician.

Refreshingly, this was one of those CDs I was able to just pop in and comfortably listen to from beginning to end. Every track is enjoyable and was pretty easy for me to listen to from start to finish.

3rd Force possesses the characteristic of being able to bowl you over with their talent alone. The kind of group I really enjoy listening to.

I m of the opinion that Vital Force is certainly 3rd Force s best work in a few years. A totally enjoyable CD and an outstanding release. What I call must have music. I give it two thumbs

Piano Improvisation - Easier Than You Think!

As someone who has played the piano for quite a long time, I can tell you that there is nothing more enjoyable than being able to sit down and just improvise.

Now, I don’t do this every day, but when the mood strikes I do. It might be a beautiful spring morning, or the sight of something inspirational, but when the feeling comes, I move towards the piano and just play.

I take for granted that I can do this because I’ve been doing it for a very long time. It’s now a part of me. And a part I would never want to give up or lose. Now I know that some of you may think only a few gifted individuals

Stop Playing Piano the Hard Way!

Let’s face it. Learning isn’t usually fun. It’s a big drag.

Especially when it comes to learning a musical instrument. Scales, repetition, and monotonous exercises abound. Most people love the piano but won’t go near it for fear of not being able to to play it. And most times, their fear is justified!

A typical beginning piano student scenario may go like this: You walk into the teacher’s studio. He or she asks you what you want to learn. You respond with any number of choices; classical, jazz, new age. Then out pop the books. You know the one’s I’m talking about. Hanon scales, Czerny. Maybe if you’re lucky, you’ll get introduced to a chord-based method. Maybe. But probably not.

The Piano Keyboard and the Open Position Chord

Did you know that the piano keyboard is not used to its fullest potential? And that thousands of beginning piano students start out by playing a three-note triad that is as outdated as the dinosaur?

It’s true. The piano keyboard is huge! Over 80 keys big. Why not come up with a chord structure that uses more keys? Why not indeed!

There is a chord structure called the Open Position chord that uses more than 2 octaves of the keyboard. Both hands are called into play here to create a modern sounding seventh chord that is used frequently in pop, jazz, and new age music.

Walter Beasley “Ready For Love” Smooth Jazz CD Review

One word describes the CD Ready For Love from Walter Beasley… AWESOME!

This one grabs your attention right from the beginning with Free and doesn t let go until the very last note of the very last song Willa Mae s Place, which is another great track by the way.

Ready For Love is a nicely varied, mix of 11 tracks that are very well written songs by this clearly outstanding artist. Most of the songs display a lot of the kind emotion that makes for a really great listen. Seemingly drawing from what I can only imagine are his own personal experiences. At different points touching on the most real emotions of love, heartbreak, pain, failed relationships and unattainable romance.
