Is It Really Possible To Play The Piano By Ear?

Playing by ear is the ability to play a piece of music (or, eventually, learn an instrument) by simply listening to it repeatedly. The majority of self-taught musicians began their education this way; they picked up their instrument and began playing an easy melody from a well-known song, slowly picking out the notes as they went along. And even after these musicians master their instruments or a particular song, playing by ear still plays a large role.

Learning To Play The Piano With Chords

Learning piano chords can help you in all your piano playing. For me chords are the easiest way to play and the simplest way to embellish my playing.


If you have no illusions of grandeur and you just want to play your favorite tunes on the piano chords can get you there fast!


It would help if you also knew a little music theory like how your scales are made but once you get that down you can really go places with chords.


Chords, chords, chords.. I love them! And now when I’m playing some difficult piano piece I can actually look at my hands and see the chords I’m playing even though they are not notated that way on my music.

Ever find yourself humming a song, or hearing a song in your head? Sometimes we find ourselves singing the same song over and over all day long, even if we can’t stand the song! The fact is, music is just a part of us.
