4 Great Reasons For Choosing Guitar Learning Software

How do you value your time? Choosing a good guitar learning software can be an excellent choice for a person that has very little time in there busy schedule to go to conventional private lessons. The sad reality is that most of us would have to honestly say that we have very little time to pursue our passions in life. Scheduling guitar lessons out of an already over loaded week can be difficult, but then there is the time that is needed for practicing, otherwise your lesson efforts would be wasted. Minor Chords — How To Form Them & Use Them

Minor chords create a sound which is somber or serious; some people even think of minor chords as “sad”, as opposed to major chords which sound “normal”, or “happy”. Some of the great classics are written in minor keys, including Fur Elise by Beethoven, Prelude in C# Minor by Rachmaninoff, Prelude in Cm by Chopin, and many others. In popular music there is “Summertime”, “A Taste of Honey”, “‘Round Midnight”, etc. and in folk music there is “Greensleeves”, “Dark Eyes”, “Volga Boatman”,”When Johnny Comes Marching Home” and many more.

How to Play Like George Winston

George Winston is the poster boy for New Age piano. There’s no denying this. And why not? The man practically put New Age piano on the map with his CD December. So poignant, so sad and filled with joy is this music, that it resonated with millions across the world.

Why Learning How to Read Music Can Actually Hinder Your Progress at the Piano

If you’re a classically trained pianist, you probably can read music extremely well. But you probably can’t just go to the piano, sit down, and play what you feel!

It’s a sad but true fact. For most classically trained students, improvisation and just “being” at the piano is not an option. This isn’t to say that they don’t want to improvise and create their own music. They just don’t know how to do it!

Listen.. It’s not their fault at all! You see, their training consists of spending years upon years learning how to play the music of dead composers. And while the music of “the masters” is great and worthy of hearing, it isn’t something coming from you.

What’s so Funny About Peace, Love, and New Age Piano?

You know, I’m getting sick and tired of people putting down New Age music. Especially when most of the people who say they don’t like it secretly have an Enya or other “soothing” CD in their music collection.

The term “new age” has gotten mixed up with music in such a way that normally well meaning and intelligent people think there’s something amiss with it. They believe that it’s not OK to like a music that is peaceful and beautiful - especially when the connotation is that it’s somehow “evil” or bad.
